The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has revealed that the salaries and wages of civil servants are set to increase, causing concern for the government. This move is being considered by the Federal Government as a way to mitigate the economic impact of the continuous rise in petrol prices.

Akpabio made this announcement during a meeting with the Ekiti State Governor, Abiodun Oyebanji, at the National Assembly. He also emphasized that the removal of fuel subsidy by the administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was aimed at tackling corruption in the petroleum sector.

Akpabio stated that this removal was just the beginning of the fight against corruption and emphasized that Nigeria would not have been able to survive in the coming years without the removal of the fuel subsidy. He further assured that the review of salaries and wages would be done to ensure that Nigerians receive a fair income.
