President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to deliver a nationwide address today. According to Dele Alake, the president’s special adviser on special duties, communication, and strategy, the address will be broadcasted at 7pm on Monday. In his statement, Alake announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be making the broadcast on Monday, July 31, 2023, at 7pm. He also urged television, radio stations, and other electronic media outlets to tune in to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and Radio Nigeria for the broadcast.
The address is likely to address the growing inflation and economic challenges resulting from the removal of petrol subsidies. During a recent meeting with youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from all over the country, Tinubu expressed empathy for the citizens and assured them that the current hardships will pave the way for a more prosperous, fair, and inclusive economy. “I want to assure you that I understand the difficulties you are facing. It is not easy to overcome the 40-year-old monster known as fuel subsidy,” he stated.
During a different instance, the president had guaranteed that the national government is taking steps to mitigate the impact of removing petrol subsidies on the general public. “We will promptly alleviate the hardships that our people are facing as a consequence of these measures by implementing a variety of specifically targeted interventions designed to provide sufficient relief and comfort to a significant number of our enduring citizens,” stated Tinubu.
