Kayode Egbetokun, the new Inspector General of Police, has promised to take on crime and eliminate criminal activities in the nation. He made this declaration to State House correspondents on Tuesday, after being decorated by Vice President Kassim Shettima at the Presidential Villa.
Egbetokun expressed his eagerness to tackle the challenges ahead, stating that he was looking forward to taking over the following morning. When asked about his feelings, he likened himself to a tiger and a lion, ready to chase away all the criminals and internal enemies of Nigeria.
His predecessor, former IG Baba Alkali, expressed confidence in Egbetokun’s leadership, pointing to their shared history and previous collaborations. As he handed over the reins, Alkali acknowledged the significance of the moment and expressed satisfaction in passing the torch to someone he knew would lead the police force with dedication and excellence.
